Hotel Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where are you located? Are you near Acadia National Park?
A: We are located at 50 Eden Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609. It is a 2 mile drive to reach the Hulls Cove Visitor Center of Acadia National Park. This entrance is where the scenic 27 mile Park Loop Road begins. To avoid the hassle of waiting to buy a park pass at the park entrance we sell them at our sister property The Bluenose Inn next door.

Q: Is your hotel on the shuttle route?
A: Yes. A bus stop for the Island Explorer Shuttle is located at our front desk. This complimentary shuttle allows guests to access downtown without the hassle of finding parking. The shuttle stops at the Village Green in downtown Bar Harbor which is where the opportunity exist to pick up other bus routes that travel all over MDI and to Acadia National Park.

Q: Are you pet friendly?
A: Yes! Wonder View is one of the very few area hotels that allow pets and we even provide a water dish at check in. There are many pet friendly attractions in the area including our own Looking Glass Restaurant. Pets are welcome to accompany you on the deck for both breakfast and dinner.

Q: Is there a pet fee/any rules about pets?
A: Cats and dogs are welcome to stay for $20 per night per pet. We are pet friendly, but we request all pets are claimed at check in and that no pets are left unattended in the room at any time.

Q: What kind of views does your hotel offer?
A: The Wonder View has a wide variety of hotel rooms with various views. We have some standard rooms with no view and other rooms that have a beautiful view of Bar Harbor and Frenchman’s Bay with private balconies. To make sure that you receive the room type desired please call our reservations staff at (207) 288-3358.

Q: Do you require a deposit upon booking?
A: Yes. All reservations require a 1 night deposit at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due at check in.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We have a 3 day cancellation policy. Cancellations outside 3 days of the expected arrival date will result in a $25 administrative fee and the remainder of the deposit will be refunded. Cancellations occurring within the 3 day cancellation period will result in a 100% deposit forfeit.

Q: What is your check in time? Do you allow early check-ins?
A: Our check in time is at 3 pm.  We do not guarantee any early check-ins, but if your room is ready before 3pm we can check you into the room. If you have a flight that arrives early, we suggest calling at least 48 hours in advance so that we can do whatever possible to have your room ready earlier.

Q: Are there any area airports?
A: The Hancock County/ Bar Harbor Airport is a small airport located approximately 10 miles from our location. This airport does have daily flights on Cape Air to and from Boston’s Logan International Airport. Bangor International Airport is located 50 miles from Bar Harbor and offers rental car options.   Portland International Jetport is approximately 3 hours from Bar Harbor and has the most daily arrivals and departures.

Q: What is the maximum number of people per room? Is there an extra charge for additional adults?
A: The maximum number of guests for a room with a King bed is 3. The maximum number of guest for a room with two beds is 5. This is not a hotel policy, but a law established due to fire safety. A $20 fee will be applied each night for additional adults after 2 adults.

Q: Do you have a restaurant on property?
A:  Yes. The Looking Glass Restaurant is located on property between the Hilltop and Hillcrest buildings. The views from the Looking Glass dining room have been recognized by Yankee Magazine as “The Best Breakfast with a View.” Your 4 legged friends are also welcome for breakfast and dinner on the deck. Q: Do you have a pool?
A:  Yes. We do have on outdoor heated pool (open seasonally)

Q: Do you have smoking rooms?
A: We do not have any smoking rooms. We are a 100% smoke free property. There are designated smoking areas away from guest rooms where smoking is permitted. A $250 fee will be added to any room where smoking was determined to have happened whether in the room or on the balcony.

Q: Do you have rollaway beds or cribs available?
A: Yes we do. Rollaway beds are available for an additional $20 per night and a crib has just a one-time set up fee of $15. There is a limit of either one rollway bed or crib per room.

Q: Do you provide complimentary internet service?
A:  Yes. We are constantly updating our internet service to meet every guest’s needs and wants. We are committed to providing quality internet to our guest throughout their stay.

Q: Do you have on-site parking?
A: Yes. There is parking available directly outside each room.

Q: Are there any area Veterinary Hospitals?
A:  Yes! The Acadia Veterinary Hospital is located at 21 Federal Street.

Q: Is there any place on the Island that does daily animal boarding?
A: Yes! Acadia Woods Kennel and the Acadia Veterinary Hospital do animal sitting.
